How to Level Heroes

Heroes are permanent companions in Sword Warriors: they follow you through waves, grant Equip and Owned stat bonuses, and often provide unique skills that rewrite how a run feels. You summon them at the Hero Monument in World 1: Royal City using Hero Points, then level them by clearing waves in any world. This guide explains Hero Point income, the 1–2 equip limit, Owned versus Equip math, standout heroes (Priest, Prophet, Ikun), and how hero grinding fits rebirth, enchanting, and Eternal Hall. Start here after Getting Started if your Monument is still empty.

Hero Points and the Hero Monument

  • New accounts begin with 1 Hero Point.
  • Each completed world awards +1 Hero Point.
  • Spend points at the Hero Monument in Royal City to unlock/summon heroes from the roster.
  • Return to the same Monument to equip, unequip, or swap companions before a grind session.

Because points are gated by world clears, pushing the Worlds ladder is also a hero-economy strategy. Skipping portals does not only delay eggs—it delays new Monument unlocks.

Equip slots: one free, two with unlock

By default you may equip 1 hero. A second simultaneous equip typically requires a Robux unlock (commonly sold as an extra-hero product). Plan loadouts accordingly:

  • One-slot accounts: Swap often. Use Prophet for XP rebirth farms, Priest for brutal new worlds, damage heroes for bosses, Ikun for Drillmaster stalls.
  • Two-slot accounts: Pair Prophet + Priest for safe XP, Prophet + Archmage for wave-skip farms, or Priest + a damage hero for push content. Check the Tier List for current duos.

Never leave the Monument with zero heroes equipped unless you are doing a challenge run.

Owned bonus vs Equip bonus

Every hero can grant stats in two ways:

  • Equip bonus — Active only while that hero is in an equip slot. Examples: Prophet’s Equip line often adds Speed equal to hero level; Priest’s Equip line adds HP per level.
  • Owned bonus — Active as long as the hero is unlocked, even when unequipped. Examples: Prophet’s Owned line commonly adds Attack per level; Priest’s Owned line adds HP per level. Some heroes (including certain event units like Ikun) focus on Equip-only benefits—read each Monument tooltip.

Practical rule: Unlock and level many heroes to mid thresholds (community tips often cite ~30–40+) just for Owned stats, even if you never equip them. Event heroes with strong Owned Attack are free permanent power after their event ends.

How heroes gain levels

Heroes gain EXP from wave completions. Importantly, hero EXP is not strictly tied to “only fight in the highest world”—published notes explain that hero EXP per wave can match across different world contexts in ways that surprise beginners. Still, players who need character XP and gem income usually farm their highest comfortable world while heroes level in the background. For dedicated hero sessions, watch which world gives you the best clear speed so downtime stays low—the embedded video focuses on that “which world is best” question.

Keep clearing Duck quests and portals so Hero Points and hero EXP rise together. Rebirths reset your character level but do not wipe hero levels or Owned bonuses—another reason How to Rebirth and hero grinding complement each other.

Prophet — the XP engine

Prophet’s Knowledge Acquisition grants +40% EXP from defeated enemies, including kills by teammates. Equip Prophet whenever you are:

  • Climbing after a rebirth
  • Racing Herald / Archon / Legend rebirth titles
  • Riding an XP code boost from Codes

Owned Attack from a leveled Prophet still helps when you swap him out for sustain. Synergy notes from community guides often pair Prophet with Rogue (gems), Archmage (wave skip), Flame Wizard (clear), or Priest (safety).

Priest — the sustain engine

Priest heals the master for about 1% HP every second while equipped. That passive turns fatal worlds into manageable kiting exercises, especially before your enchant Life Steal line exists. Equip Priest when:

  • Entering a new world band
  • Learning hazard rooms in Eternal Guardian Hall
  • Drillmaster attempts feel too spiky

Priest’s Owned and Equip HP lines also thicken your pool as the hero levels—double value for tanksy accounts.

Ikun — code unlock and stall skill

Ikun is redeemed with the code ZHIYINNITAIMEI (Options → Redeem), then summoned at the Royal City Hero Monument. Ikun’s Sing Jump forces enemies to attack Ikun for 6 seconds (about 40 seconds cooldown), giving you a free damage window. That stall is excellent for:

  • Drillmaster training after rebirths
  • Dense packs while your skills recharge
  • Mobile players who need breathing room between dash taps (Controls)

Ikun’s Equip bonus focuses on Speed per level; Owned bonuses may be limited compared with Prophet/Priest—still worth unlocking for the skill alone.

Other heroes worth knowing

The roster is large (Swordsman, Archmage, Rogue, Paladin, Flame Wizard, event Titans, and many more). Without inventing patch-specific DPS numbers:

  • Archmage skips early waves in a world (teleport-style skip), saving time on repeated clears.
  • Active damage heroes add Attack-scaling pressure but can pull aggro—careful in carry groups.
  • Repeat-type heroes fire effects each round automatically.
  • Event titans and limited heroes often bring strong Owned Attack; unlock them whenever available.

Hero ornaments (separate from master ornaments) can further specialize bonuses—equip ornaments intentionally so you do not park a master-only piece on a hero by mistake.

Leveling plan you can follow

  1. Redeem ZHIYINNITAIMEI plus any live Codes.
  2. At the Monument, summon Prophet and Priest as points allow; summon Ikun after the code.
  3. Equip Prophet for XP sessions; swap Priest when a world deletes you.
  4. Complete each world for +1 Hero Point and new unlocks (Worlds).
  5. Level non-meta heroes to mid tiers for Owned stats.
  6. After every rebirth, re-check equip slots before you fight (How to Rebirth).
  7. Take leveled supports into Eternal Guardian Hall once keys are ready.
  8. Revisit the Guides Hub and Tier List when new heroes ship in Updates.

Common hero mistakes

  • Saving Hero Points instead of unlocking Owned-bonus heroes.
  • Leaving Prophet unequipped during rebirth marathons.
  • Never swapping to Priest on a difficulty spike.
  • Ignoring Ikun’s code entirely.
  • Expecting one hero level 10 to replace missing rebirth stacks or a bad sword.

Heroes multiply good fundamentals—they do not replace gems, portals, or enchants. Build the Monument roster early, feed Owned bonuses passively, and keep Prophet/Priest/Ikun in your muscle memory. That trio alone carries most accounts from Royal City into the late world ladder.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common Sword Warriors questions.

How do I get Hero Points in Sword Warriors?

You start with one Hero Point and gain another each time you complete a world. Spend them at the Hero Monument in World 1 Royal City.

How many heroes can I equip?

One by default. A second equip slot usually requires a Robux unlock. Swap heroes at the Monument to match XP, sustain, or damage goals.

What is the difference between Owned and Equip bonuses?

Equip bonuses apply only while the hero is equipped. Owned bonuses apply whenever the hero is unlocked, even if unequipped—so leveling spare heroes still adds permanent stats.

What do Priest and Prophet do?

Priest heals about 1% of your HP every second. Prophet grants +40% EXP from kills, including teammate kills—ideal for rebirth grinding.

How do I unlock Ikun?

Redeem the code ZHIYINNITAIMEI in Options, then summon Ikun at the Hero Monument in Royal City. Sing Jump stalls enemies for six seconds on a long cooldown.
